A Girly Weekend in Milan Italy

I went on a girly trip to Milan with my friend. This is my second visit to the city and I have to say that it’s still beautiful in the winter. It was the middle of November so it was cold but nowhere near as bad as the weather we have in England. We ended up doing more shopping and drinking than sightseeing, and it was so much fun.

Day 1

On the first day, we arrived at Bergamo airport which is in a completely different city. So we took a bus from Bergamo airport to Milan city centre. We checked into the hotel and then went out to explore. The funny thing is we had the same jacket and similar boots on so everyone was staring at us in the street. The first picture of me was taken a few streets away from our hotel. The second picture was in Castello Sforzesco, which used to be a medieval fortress. We didn’t pay to go inside or stay here very long. I went here before on my first trip to Milan too…but it was different this time. It looked better because we were here as the sun was setting. After this, we went for a walk and at some point, we found a wine bar and indulged in 1 glass of red wine. To be honest, my memory of this trip is a bit hazy, but I do remember we left the wine bar and went to a restaurant for dinner. I had the orecchiette with mussels and white beans.

Day 2

We started this day with some shopping. We found a shop that was having sales and we ended up buying some nice winter jumpers. Then we found another big shop having sales where we bought some more clothes. We found an Italian buffet for lunch, which is where the above picture of coffee was taken. The buffet had nice traditional food (Caprese salad, pizzas, panzerotti, pasta). We decided to order a glass of red wine for 3 euros. Then we went to Kiko Milano to buy some makeup and I honestly don’t remember what we did for the rest of the day. In the evening we went to the Duomo cathedral which is shown in the picture above. Then we took the metro to the Navigli area of Milan. It has a canal that is surrounded by bars and restaurants. We ate the pizza in the above picture. Actually…I’m sure there is a name in Italian for this. It’s not pizza.
