Budget Hotels in London

Mentioning budget and London in the same sentence really does feel like an oxymoron. But I promise it is possible! Many Hotels are more affordable, but you will need to book months in advance to secure cheaper prices. I have added some hostels to this list because they offer private rooms, which is sometimes a cheaper alternative to a hotel room. Keep reading to discover my list of budget hotels in London.

YHA London Central

Location: Fitzrovia

This centrally located 4-star hostel offers rooms starting at ยฃ25 per night. Private rooms, Women-only, and men-only rooms are also available. It is near two underground stations (Great Portland Street and Regent’s Park). Many attractions are also within walking distance, such as Oxford Street, Madame Tussauds, and Regents Park, where you can find an open-air theatre. This hostel also offers an unlimited continental breakfast for ยฃ5.95 per person.

easyHotel London Victoria

Location: Victoria

Prices in this hotel can start as low as ยฃ60 per night, making it one of the cheapest hotels in central London. The location makes it easily accessible for transport, as Victoria station is a 5 minute walk. You can get coaches or trains from Victoria station to Gatwick airport, Luton airport, or Stansted airport. You can also take trains and coaches from Victoria to many other places across the country. Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace are also within walking distance. This is a “no frills” type of hotel, so it would be suitable for someone who doesn’t intend to spend much time there.

Premier Inn London County Hall Hotel

Location: South Bank

Premier Inn is one of Britain’s “affordable” hotel chains. This particular hotel is located very close to the London Eye, River Thames, and Houses of Parliament. Rooms prices can start at ยฃ90 per night if you book in advance, which is a good price considering the location. In my experience, rooms at Premier Inn are always very nice and clean. They also serve a tasty full English breakfast buffet! So be sure to try it if you ever stay with this hotel chain.

The Z Hotel City

Location: Fleet Street

Depending on the month, and how far in advance you book, rooms at this hotel can start at ยฃ60 per night. There are several underground stations nearby (Temple, Blackfriars, and Chancery Lane). It is also close to St Paulโ€™s Cathedral and Somerset House are within walking distance. This hotel is located in London’s financial district and has a wine bar and cafe that offers charcuterie/cheese boards.

Generator London

Location: Kings Cross

Generator is a chain of hostels that are located in major European cities and a few American cities. The London hostel is located close to Russell Square underground station, which is one stop away from Kings Cross Station (one of London’s main train stations). From King’s Cross, you can also take the Eurostar train to Paris or Brussels. Prices for dorm beds start at ยฃ17 per night, and private rooms start at ยฃ55. The British Museum is also within walking distance.

All the options I have listed above provide great value without compromising on location. Most of these hotels are centrally located, making it easy to reach the most popular attractions in London. I cannot guarantee comfort, but in a city as bustling as London, the chances of you spending much time in your hotel are slim.
